On Thursday night Bowling Green played host to visiting Fremont Ross in a non-league contest. Bowling Green would take control early, and throughout the game, rolling to a 62-46 win over Fremont Ross. Here is who stood out:
2021 F Kaleb Gerken (Bowling Green) – Gerken was the best player on the floor on Thursday, outhustling, and outworking everyone else. Ran the floor very well, filling lanes in transition, and converting at the rim. Was active, strong on the block, and on the glass. Was efficient offensively, converting on nearly every opportunity he got. Has good size, uses it on both ends of the floor, and was an anchor defensively. Finished with a game-high 23 points. Played with energy, enthusiasm, and was the key to his team’s dominating win on this night.
2023 G Brock Hastings (Bowling Green) – Didn’t stuff the stat sheet, but did enough to show he has a bright future ahead with continued growth. Will need to bulk up, and continue to develop, but has the skill set, and understanding from the guard position. Has a really nice looking shot from the outside, and can stroke it with good consistency. Locked in on defense, understands positioning. One to keep an eye on going forward.
2023 G Ayden Carter (Fremont Ross) – Starred in the JV game, and carried that over to his opportunity with the Varsity on this night. Has good length, and athleticism from the guard position. Plays hard, doesn’t take trips down the floor off. Excels slashing and getting to the rim, capable of knocking down jump shots. Will be interesting to see his development on this young Fremont Ross team.
Others who stood out: Ty Sayen (Bowling Green), Anthony Vann (Fremont Ross), Isaiah Cook (Bowling Green).
