Lima Senior Defeats Perrysburg

On Tuesday night Perrysburg traveled south to Lima Senior for a game that was a late addition to both schedules with cancellations and health protocols altering previously scheduled games. In a well played early season contest, Lima Senior would defeat Perrysburg by a final score of 62-49. Here is who stood out:

2022 PG Khalil Luster (Lima Senior) – Luster does what you become accustomed to seeing from him; lead his team, make plays, and make his presence felt all over the floor. Was efficient offensively, not needing to score the ball much but doing so when given the opportunity; knocked down outside shots and scored it on the break. Sets up teammates, gets them the ball in positions they can be effective. Sees the floor well, always has his head up, is an extension of his coach. Is so quick and dynamic, really causes issues and is a tremendous presence on defense.

2023 G/F Matt Watkins (Perrysburg) – Another promising prospect in his class in NW Ohio, Watkins has great feel, and maturity on the floor. Capable of bringing the ball up the floor and initiating offense, has a decent handle at this point, and is comfortable using either hand. Plays smart and lets the game come to him on offense, scoring it around the rim with strength, and knocking down shots when he gets his feet set. Will get down and defend, and can do so guarding multiple positions. Bright future ahead for him.

2022 G Camren Miles (Lima Senior) – Finished as this games leading scorer with 13 points, Miles plays with great control, poise, and experience. Strong on both ends of the floor. Thrives in the mid-range, getting to his spots and capitalizing, capable of knocking down triples, and is active in the paint from the guard position. Really brings energy to the floor, uses his athleticism to his advantage. Sound defender on the perimeter.

2022 G Kannon Klusmeyer (Perrysburg) – Could be one of the surprise players of the NLL this season. Has good size out on the perimeter from his position. Strong with the basketball, makes good decisions, does a nice job of taking care of the basketball. Let’s the game come to him, a skilled prospect who is just scratching the surface. Not afraid of contact, rebounds, and will be physical on the defensive end of the floor. One to keep an eye on as he continues to grow with more experience.

2022 G Jareon Mayo (Lima Senior) – Was the first one off the bench for his team and made an instant impact on the game with his energy and competitiveness. Scored the ball with great efficiency, uses his size to get separation, and can score it at all three levels. Has good length and speed, making him a definite asset defensively. Really played well and had a big part in his team’s win on this night.

2023 F Andrew Hunt (Perrysburg) – Split time at the JV and Varsity levels, but made his biggest impact with the big boys. A point-forward of sorts, has a good frame, and can bring the ball up the floor. Was really active fighting for rebounds and scrapping for loose balls. Played with pretty good patience and poise. Doesn’t force things, didn’t allow the moment to get too big for him. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him get fewer and fewer minutes at the JV level.
