Practice at Toledo St. John’s High School

The Titans of Toledo St. John’s High School were in the gym Saturday afternoon for their second practice, and could not have been more impressive, especially so early on in the season. The Titans will have depth, as well as a very nice mix of experience and youth to have a great deal of success this season:

2021 G Brady Lichtenberg – One of the leaders of this team, the University of Cincinnati football signee is a high end basketball prospect as well. Battling a minor injury on Saturday, he still was in the gym bringing great competitiveness and enthusiasm. Understands the system after a great amount of Varsity experience, is skilled, and smooth as a basketball player. Can really shoot it well from the outside and can get to the rim. Will be one of their best perimeter defenders this season. Won’t be surprised if he is a First Team All-TRAC selection by season’s end.

2023 PG CJ Hornbeak – Will be one of the best point guards in Northwest Ohio, only as a sophomore. A special talent with a continuous bright future ahead of him. Has a mature feel to his game, makes good decisions with the basketball, picks his spots, and will be a reflection of his coach. Should hear his name more and more not only locally, but potentially on a statewide level.

2021 F Jaedyn McKinstry – A tremendous athlete with great upside, his athletic accomplishments have taken a toll because of health issues. On Saturday he looked the part of a college basketball prospect, and will have the chance to have a breakout senior season. Has great bounce in his step, runs the floor well, moves the basketball, and has the ability to score it from the outside. With good size on the wing, and great potential, he is certainly someone to keep an eye on.

2021 F Shane Garcia – The most enthusiastic and outspoken leader for this team, the senior looks ready to take on a big role this season. He has good size out on the wing, really shoots the ball well from the outside, and stretches the floor. Competes and plays hard on both ends of the floor. Easy to see why he has a great deal of interest to play small college basketball at the next level.

Others who stood out on Saturday and could play key roles for this team:

2022 G Kennedy Vaughn

2023 F Jabari Conway

2021 F Thomas Zsiros

2021 F Andrew Miller
