Last Saturday, Lima Senior High School played host to a Mega Scrimmage that saw schools from all across the state make the trip to participate. While there were only a pair of Northwest Ohio schools participating, including the host, there was plenty of big time talent in the gym under one roof. Here is who stood out for Lima Senior and Start, the two programs from Northwest Ohio who our focus was primarily on:

2020 G Josiah Fulcher (Lima Senior) – Fulcher had one of the best days of anyone on Saturday with his explosive play and contagious energy. Was special in transition, finishing numerous breaks with dunks and converting multiple alley-oops. Shot it well when he was spot-up around the perimeter. Finished around the rim and moved without the basketball. Competed on defense and flew all over the floor. Displayed plenty of communication and leadership. The senior will play his college ball locally for Bowling Green and looks capable of making an instant impact.

2022 PG Khalil Luster (Lima Senior) – He might be undersized but he packs a punch and doesn’t back down from anyone. Really did a nice job of taking care of the basketball and setting up teammates. Plays with his head up and sees the floor well. Can push it or pull it back out and set things up. Had the ball on a string all afternoon long, got in the paint and converted with creativity. Shot it well from the outside. Uses his speed and quickness to his advantage on both sides of the floor. Creates havoc defensively and can really pressure the ball. Nice showing from him on Saturday.

2020 G Tavaz Lawler-Showers (Start) – Following a strong showing in the Toledo Elite Fall League, the former Albion, Michigan native had another big time showing on Saturday against some high level competition. Can be streaky shooting the basketball, but when he is on, he’s on, and put points on the board in a hurry. Scored it with relative consistency on this day, and did so from all three levels. Creates space off the bounce, and gets teammates involved. Plays hard on both ends of the floor, and with a chip on his shoulder. Could easily have an all Toledo City-League kind of season.

2020 G Caleb Smith (Start) – The new arrival in form of transfer is known for his offense and proved that true with his play. Shot it well and with consistency, picked his spots. Was active on the glass, and moved well without the basketball. Locked in defensively, and contributed to his team’s success throughout the morning.

Others who stood out: Dante Wheeler (Lima Senior), Jadakis Mack (Lima Senior), Dashad Floyd (Start), Tareem Warren (Start).
